No prayers in historic Jamia,other mosques in Valley

No Friday prayers were offered in historic Jamia and dozens of other mosques, particularly in the down town and Shehar-e-Khas (SeK) due to strict curfew restrictions.

However, prayers were offered in Hazratbal shrine, which houses the holy relief of Prophet Muhammad though the number of devotees were very less as people from adjoining areas
could make it to mosque on the bank of the Dal Lake.

Official sources said that as a precautionary measure no prayers were held in Jamia masjid in the down town.
People of the area alleged that they were not allowed to enter the mosque by the security forces and state police personnel deployed around the Masjid in strength.

There were also no Azaan, call for prayers from the Mosque because nobody was allowed to enter there, they alleged.
Reports received from the down town and SeK alleged that no prayers could be offered in the Mosques on main roads because of curfew restrictions.

However, people offered prayers in the mosques in the interior areas.

Reports of Fridays prayers held in other mosques in the Kashmir valley.

There were also reports slogan shouting from some places after the prayers.
