Noida's twin towers facing demolition sealed

The Noida authority on Tuesday sealed two under-construction 40-storey towers — Apex and Ceyane — in Sector 93A along Noida Expressway which was being built by the Supertech Group.
The action comes four days after an Allahabad High Court order that directed the demolition of the twin towers, which were allegedly being built in violation of the Building Regulations and UP Apartment Act, 2010 norms.
A team of the Noida authority, escorted by police officers, reached the site around 3pm on Tuesday, and shut down the realtor’s sales office and sealed the construction site.
The twin towers that has 857 housing units are likely to face demolition only if the Noida authority, the realtor and around 627 aggrieved home buyers fail to get any relief from the Supreme Court, where they are likely to file a plea against the high court order.
The three parties are likely to challenge the HC’s demolition order before the apex court by filing a special petition soon.
"If the Supreme Court declines to admit the review petition, then we will have no option left but to demolish the twin towers in compliance with the HC’s order. The high court has given us four months to implement its order.
Therefore, first we will explore the legal options available to us," said a senior Noida authority official, requesting anonymity.
The Noida authority first had a meeting at its Sector 6 office on the issue, and later sent a team to seal the construction site.
The team took 30 minutes to carry out the sealing exercise.
Home buyers, however, called the Noida authority’s action too late.
"The Noida authority has taken action only after the HC’s order. The Noida authority chief executive officer Rama Raman kept sheltering the realtor and did not stop construction on our complaints in August, 2013. Had the authority chief executive officer taken prompt action buyers would not have invested their hard-earned money," alleged RP Tandon, member of RWA that had filed a petition before the HC in 2012.
