The injured was identified as Ashok Kumar, a factory worker.

He was admitted to a private hospital in the same area. The factory was owned by Dinesh Gupta and the firemen said that fire could have been averted had the management followed basic fire safety norms.

Three fire-tenders took three hours to extinguish the fire. The incident clearly indicated that the fire safety norms were not followed by factory owners.

JN Dohra, fire officer at Collonalganj Fire station said factory owners, politicians and rich contractors are responsible for such incidents. He said, “Under Fire Safety Act, provisions were made for fire hydrant, status tank, fire tailor pump, fire extinguishers and buckets at every factory but in most factories, these items have not been installed,” he said.
