Kapil Sibal cited references in Advani’s autobiography My Country My Life to charge the BJP with being anti-minorities.

“Advani’s duplicity stands exposed when he writes that BJP forced Indira Gandhi to order Operation Blue Star to liberate Golden temple from anti-national occupants. At the same time, he writes it was one of the most painful moments in the history of our Republic.”

In the chapter The Trauma and Triumph of Punjab, Advani wrote: “One of the major mass agitations in the history of the BJP was… against what we termed as the government’s virtual surrender before Bhindranwale and his private army, who had made the Golden Temple their operational headquarters.”
