The delegation was led by IMA secretary Dr Anil Kumar Srivastav and president of GP Association Dr BL Agrawal, Dr RN Singh, Dr RL Agrawal, Dr PK Agrahari said that the doctors were shocked over the death of a patient Mira Rav at Presidency Hospital near Daudpur crossing on January 30 but the arrest of the Dr Shushil Chandra had generated resentment among the doctors.
In the memorandum, the IMA office-bearers said that the immediate arrest of the doctor without proper investigation was unlawful and violation of the directives of the Supreme Court. They said the arrest of doctor had increased the worries of the physicians.
Dr Srivastav said all the physicians and surgeon provide best services to the patient but some complicated situation could arose during the treatment. He claimed that the death of Mira was not a result of negligence on the part of the doctor.
It is noted that Mira Devi (42) wife of Ranvijay Rao, a resident of Balkuan under the Hata police station of the Deoria district was admitted to the nursing home for removal of uterus. After the successful operation conducted by Dr Chandra, the patient was to be discharged on Monday. Meanwhile, at around 9 am the compounder of the hospital gave an injection to the patient to check the inner bleeding and she died due to reaction of the injection.
Meanwhile, police lodged an FIR against Dr Sushil Chandra and his wife Dr Renu under Section 304A and arrested them. The doctor couple was later released on bail on the same day.
