"PDP is contesting the elections to change the (state's) inept and corrupt system with the support of the people," Malik said at a rally at Chenani, Udhampur district.

Malik also accused the state government of corruption. PDP leader Sartaj Madni, the deputy speaker in the state assembly, said chief minister Omar Abdullah had failed to meet the expectations of the people.

"People had high hopes from the CM, but has dashed the hopes all sections of society," he said.

He claimed that the NC and Congress had failed to fulfil the promises they made to the people. "The youth are the worst victims of the policies of the state government," he said.
