Youngsters, especially enjoyed the weather being able to zoom about on motorbikes and able to show off their funky apparels.

During the night intervening Saturday and Sunday, as the New Year was rung in, the minimum temperature in capital was recorded at 13.4 degrees, a good three degrees above the normal for the season. The New Year day on Sunday remained quite pleasant with a maximum day temperature of 28.4, which although three degree above normal, did not feel uncomfortable at all.

Only last week, the citizens were shivering under severely cold weather conditions with the temperatures dipping as low as 7.0 degrees.

In other parts of the State too, the day and night temperature soared a bit. Indore recorded maximum of 29.0 and minimum of 12.4, Gwalior – 27.2 and 8.5 and Jabalpur – 28.0 and 11.9.

The director of Regional Meteorological Centre said the rise in temperature is owing to a western disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and the fact that the wind pattern has become southerly.
