Search is on in western UP towns like Meerut, Hapur and Moradabad to nab those who were linked to the illegal trade.

Based on information given by the arrested during interrogation, Moradabad police have held one Gayasuddin, an alleged agent, from Hapur in Ghaziabad district. Alleged chief agent Saeed’s name too were given by some sources and those arrested. “During a raid, the rented house of Saeed was found to be locked,” said Jyoti Narayan, Meerut SSP, confirming that a case of illegal kidney transplant was lodged against him in Delhi last year. It is believed that he is working for a similar gang in Gurgaon and other agents operational in western UP were in touch with him. Saeed was released on bail after several months when he was arrested earlier.

The Meerut SSP has instructed all police stations of the district to collect inputs about persons like Saeed who have a record of involvement in organ trade.

Sources said police teams have been dispatched in districts like Aligarh and Agra to track links with the Gurgaon racket.
