People of Jammu on Wednesday witnessed overcast sky and cool breeze. The rain started around 9 am and continued for a short span in the plain regions of Jammu, while in the hilly areas of the division it lasted till afternoon. However, the sky remained overcast for the entire day, bringing down the maximum temperature by three degrees.

The winter capital recorded maximum temperature at 36.2° Celsius and minimum temperature at 31° Celsius. A MeT official has linked the sudden change in temperature with pre-monsoon.

"The rain along with thundershowers in the state are due to pre-monsoon, which start 15-20 before the onset of the monsoon", he said. The official has also predicted pleasant weather conditions for the next couple of days.

"Similar pattern will continue for the next 2-3 days in the state.", he said.

Meanwhile, a MeT official said, "On Thursday rain with thundershowers will occur at isolated places over the plains of Jammu division".
