A 29-year-old woman died after being brutally raped and dumped by a driver in Silchar town, Assam, police said.
A 29-year-old woman died after being brutally raped and dumped by a driver in Silchar town, Assam, police said.
The woman and her husband were travelling by a private vehicle from Bolpui in Mizoram to Lumding in Assam on Wednesday when the driver feigning a problem with the vehicle asked the man to push it.
As soon as the man got off, the driver sped away with the woman inside.
He took the woman to Silchar and raped her before dumping her in a critical condition near a car stand in the town.
Locals found the woman on Thursday morning and called the police but she died on her way to the hospital.
Militant set on fire
A member of People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a splinter outfit of CPI-Maoist, was set on fire for raping a village girl in Simdega district.
The deceased, identified as Amar Khes (22), area commander of PLFI had visited Ghattari village of the district on Wednesday night to collect levy from the villagers. HT Correspondent
