Renu Jogi?s day out
Renu Jogi, wife of injured Congress candidate and former Chhattisgarh CM Ajit Jogi, could finally campaign for her husband in Mahasamund constituency on the last day of campaigning — Sunday, as the state government accepted her resignation letter-cum-voluntary retirement application only on Saturday evening.
Renu launched a roadshow in Mahasamund on Sunday morning which ended at around 4.40 pm in Dhamtari, just before the deadline fixed by the EC.
Renu got an overwhelming response, especially from women and children, along the 120-km route. She interacted with people along the route and was visibly pleased at the large turnout.
Renu appealed to the electorate to vote for her husband. "My husband changed the face of backward Chhattisgarh state by initiating several development works during his three years as CM. Now vote for him so that he can raise his voice in the Capital for the betterment of Chhattisgarh, particularly Mahasamund," she said.
Renu avoided any direct criticism of anyone during her roadshow and asked Congress workers to sincerely work for her husband's victory by maintaining unity in the run up to the elections.
While Jogi's supporters have launched a vigorous campaign in his constituency, scores of common folk have also organised yagnas for his speedy recovery.
In an attempt to get votes for the Congress, Jogi's supporters are also showing the electorate video clips of a badly injured Jogi in his hospital bed.
