Rs. 2.5 cr looted from Axis Bank van near Nagpur

In a broad-daylight film-style robbery, six men Thursday stopped at gunpoint a van carrying Rs. 2.5 crore cash of the Axis Bank to Nagpur and fled with the money, police said.

In a broad-daylight film-style robbery, six men Thursday stopped at gunpoint a van carrying Rs. 2.5 crore cash of the Axis Bank to Nagpur and fled with the money, police said.

"The incident occurred at Sonpur, 60 kms from Nagpur, when the van was on its way from Akola to Nagpur," an official from Kondhali Police Station said.


"According to the preliminary report by the security incharge of the van, six men in a Scorpio jeep intercepted them and looted them of the cash at gunpoint before zooming away in the opposite direction," the official added.

The Kondhali police have registered a complaint against unidentified people and are investigating the matter.
