Sensex up 37 points in early trade

The benchmark index gains more than 37 points in early trade on selective buying by funds and retail investors.

The benchmark Sensex on Friday gained more than 37 points in early trade on the Bombay Stock Exchange on selective buying by funds and retail investors.

The Sensex, which had gained nearly 45 points in the previous sessions, gathered another 37.01 points at 13,421.87 in the first five minutes of trade.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange Nifty rose by 11.25 points at 3,844.75.

Stock brokers said reports that corporates had paid good advance tax, had a positive impact on the trading sentiments.

Major support came in from stocks such as Reliance Industries, Reliance Communications, ONGC, BHEL, ACC, Larsen and Toubro, Infosys Technologies, State Bank of India, Maruti Udyog, Bharti Airtel, Ranbaxy, HDFC Ltd.
