Seven arrested in Gulbarg society riot case

Seven people have been arrested by special investigation team (SIT) on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in the Gulbarg society case, where 38 people were killed including ex-MP Ehsan Jafrey, during the post-Godhra riots of 2002.
The SIT constituted by the Supreme court to reinvestigate the Godhra train burning case and nine other post-Godhra riots cases of 2002.
Those arrested include Narayan Tank, Manish Patel, Raju Kania, Dashrath Patni, Nagin Patni, Lakhan Singh, Lalu Chudasama and Dharmesh Shukla.
"The arrests have been made after investigation in the Gulburg society case revealed the names of the accused," assistant commissioner of police J M Suthar, who made the arrest said.
The SIT today also obtained remand of four accused in the Naroda Patia riot cases of 2002, where 84 people were killed. Ashok Korani, Vijay Parmar, Ramesh Didawala and Kishan Marathi arrested yesterday by SIT were produced before metropolitan megistrate G M Patel, who sent them to five-day police remand till September 22.
Six other men, accused in the Naroda Gam of 2002 riots in the city, where 11 persons were killed, were further remanded to five-day police custody by the metropolitan court here.
