"Police have registered a case against seven people, including three constables," SSP Vijay Prakash said. The SHO of Chapar, Mahender Pal Singh, has also been suspended for negligence of duty, Prakash added.
Rajbal (55) died on Tuesday night in police custody after he along with his brother Mayaram was picked up by police in connection with a case.
According to the FIR lodged by Rajbal's family, he was tortured during police custody. Meanwhile, irate villagers took to streets and blocked the Delhi-Dehra Dun national highway to protest against Rajbal's death.
