Ship sinks in Bay of Bengal; scientists escape

All 18 people, including the crew, on board the ship belonging to Dredging Corporation of India (DCI) managed to escape, a senior official of DCI said.

A tug-ship carrying scientists involved in environment studies in connection with the Sethusamudram canal project sank about 40 nautical miles off Kodiakarai coast in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu on Saturday.
