Slain Uttar Pradesh deputy superintendent of police Zia-ul-Haq’s wife Parveen Azad visited Kunda on Sunday for the first time since his murder there earlier this month and vowed to continue her fight for justice.
“I will not tolerate any slackness in the investigation and might even resort to agitation if there is any tardiness,” Parveen said. However, she reposed faith in the Central Bureau of Investigation probe in the case.
“All I want is justice. It does not matter if the culprit is a king or a commoner,” added Parveen, who has accused former minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya of having a hand in her husband’s killing.
Parveen, who was appointed an officer on special duty in the police welfare department following Haq’s murder on March 2, collected his belongings from the house where he stayed.
Haq was shot in Balipur village, 75 km west of Pratapgarh district headquarters, while trying to control the violence that had erupted after gram pradhan Nanhey Singh Yadav was shot, allegedly over a land dispute.
Nanhey’s brother, Suresh, died reportedly in crossfire when a mob attacked Haq and his team.
