CONGRESS ON Sunday alleged the unidentified gas, which leaked in areas around Kiratpur, had leaked from a tanker brought to the Som Distilleries beer factory.
State Congress spokesperson Manak Agrawal said the gas leak begun when the driver of the tanker was having tea at Bhojpur Square. Later, they rushed the vehicle towards Som’s distillery at Kiratpur. Since the leakage was not stopped, people in villages around Kiratpur were affected and rushed to hospital.
He said draught beer launched by Som Distilleries in Bhopal market could not be supplied on Saturday evening due to the incident. Agrawal accused the State Government of shielding owners of Som Distilleries and said the gas leak was being deliberately linked to teargas being brought for the CRPF, which bore no truth.
