Somnath Bharti hosts ‘party’ at Delhi secretariat

It seems AAP leader Somnath Bharti is still to get over the fact that he is no longer a minister. According to sources, a farewell party was reportedly underway and Bharti was seen sitting inside the hall along with the staff that reported to him during his stint as minister.

“Sir had come on Tuesday to interact with the staff members and the officers. It was an informal meet. We were discussing general things over a cup of tea,” said a staff who served food at the room.

Bharti is not the only one who has been making rounds of the Delhi Secretariat. On Sunday, days after Kejriwal had tendered his resignation, former women and child development department minister Rakhi Birla visited the secretariat and wanted to use the official vehicle.

“She wanted to use the official car and we allowed it as we had not received any official communication from the L-G’s office. She had some work and had requested for it,” said a senior Delhi government official.

When asked for his comments, Somnath Bharti said, “The staff members wanted to give me a farewell so they invited me. We sat in the conference room and not in the minister’s room. They were happy that none of the officers were shifted during my tenure. They were happy that I had never asked them to overstay if not required.”
