A suicide attacker blew up a car bomb near a coalition convoy on Monday just outside the main US main base in Afghanistan and wounded two children, Afghan police said.

The coalition could not immediately confirm the attack at Bagram air base, near the capital Kabul, and there was no word on any possible coalition casualties.
A station-wagon laden with explosives approached a coalition convoy a kilometre outside of the base and detonated the bombs, interior ministry spokesman Yousuf Stanizai said.
The suicide bomber was killed and his vehicle blown to pieces.
"It was a suicide car bomb attack involving coalition vehicles today in the morning. Two children were wounded," he said.
The attack was believed to be the first suicide blast so close to the base.
