Suicide bomber kills 23 in northern Iraq

Twenty-three people were killed and 22 others were hurt in Iraq on Sunday when a suicide bomber walked into a coffeeshop, asked for a glass of water and then blew himself up.

"The bomber wearing an explosive belt walked into the coffeeshop and blew himself up," Tuz Khurmatu police chief Colonel Abbas Mohammed Amin said.

Amin said that the Tuz Khurmatu coffeeshop was close to a Shiite mosque in the eastern part of the town in an area populated by Turkmen Shiites.
