Global wind energy firm Suzlon will invest around $60 million in its Chinese subsidiary Suzlon Energy Tianjin Ltd (SETL) and has commenced work on setting up of a 600 MW wind turbine generator manufacturing facility in China.
SETL is setting up the facility at Tianjin's Hi-Tech Industrial Park and will manufacture WTG and integrate major WTG components there.
The firm is also planning to develop a Learning and Development Centre which will facilitate education of its manpower in that country, a release informed here.
China, which is presently promoting investment in its energy sector, had passed Renewable Energy Law this year to boost investment in non-conventional energy generation.
The country plans to achieve its newly revised target of 5,000 MW of energy by 2010 and 30,000 MW by 2020, by way of utilising renewable energy sources.
