Former Union minister Sangh Priya Gautam said that farmers should be given the right to sell 100% of their land.

"In Greater Noida, the Formula 1 racetrack required only 1,000 acres of land but 2,500 acres were acquired and allotted to a private builder by the government," said Nawab Singh Nagar, former UP minister.

"Land should be taken on lease from farmers. The ownership should remain with farmers," said another BJP leader Mahesh Sharma.

"One major aspect of the Centre's draft is that the urgency clause can be imposed only in case of national security or in times of natural calamities. Once this draft becomes a law, the state government cannot use the urgency clause for what has frequently been termed forcible acquisition," they said.
