STATE BJP president Dr Satyanarain Jatia has said that those who are holding the office of profit in Madhya Pradesh should also resign from their posts on moral grounds.
Addressing a press conference at Indore Press Club today, Dr Jatia said that there should not be different laws for different people. “If anybody is holding office of profit in Madhya Pradesh against the laws of government they should also resign”, he said.
Pooh-poohing the Congress party’s projection that Sonia Gandhi’s resignation as MP and NAC chairperson is an act of sacrifice and idealism, Jatia said the Congress president had no other option but to resign as the matter had already been taken up with the President by the NDA leaders. “She did this to avoid the humiliation of being disqualified”, he said.
The President would have referred the case to the Election Commission as was done in the case of Jaya Bachchan. “If Sonia Gandhi was keen to uphold the laws, she should have announced her resignation in Parliament when the issue was raised in both the Houses of Parliament”, Dr Jatia said.
The State BJP president demanded that the Congress president should also return all the benefits she enjoyed as NAC chairperson and Rajiv Gandhi Foundation chairperson during the last around two years as was done by Jaya Bachchan.
Strongly objecting to Congress party ‘taking Parliament so casually’, Dr Jatia, who is also a veteran parliamentarian, said both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned sine die all of a sudden and neither the President nor the secretary general was aware of the developments on March 22 which ended in the sine die adjournment of the Houses. The Congress party took Parliament so casually that both the Houses were adjourned sine die while keeping everybody in the dark, he added.
