A threat to blow up the Rourkela railway station which led to a thorough search by security forces has turned out to be a hoax.

Security was strengthened at the station yesterday after police claimed that they had intercepted a telephonic conversation about a plan to "attack" it.
Personnel of GRP, RPF, CRPF and local police were deployed and sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squad searched the station for 12 hours, but nothing was found, GRP Superintendent of Police R K Bal said.
