Three 'Naxals' arrested for trying to extort money

Police have arrested three persons, who allegedly posing as Naxals tried to extort Rs 15 lakh from a company in Andhra Pradesh's Karimnagar district, police said on Wednesday.

Police have arrested three persons, who allegedly posing as Naxals tried to extort Rs 15 lakh from a company in Andhra Pradesh's Karimnagar district, police said on Wednesday.

V Srinivas, S Raju and I Tirupathi, who work as masons, were nabbed by sleuths of Commissioner's Task Force (Central Zone) in hyderabad on Wednesday, they said.

Posing as Naxalites, they phoned the management of Kaveri Seed Company Ltd demanding Rs 15 lakh. They threatened to kill the firm's staff members if their demand was not met, Task Force Deputy Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy said.

"The trio had been making extortion calls to the company management since September and threatened to kill their staff if the amount was not paid," he said.
