After the bomb blasts in Malegaon and Hyderabad, terrorists have put religious places like Shirdi and Trimbakeshar in Ahmednagar and Nasik districts in Maharashtra on their hit list, police said on Sunday.

Special IG (Nasik range) P K Jain told reporters at Shirdi that a report to this effect was given by a Central intelligence agency. He said there is a fear that Hindu festivals like Navratri and Diwali would be targeted by terrorists to create unrest in Shirdi and Trimbakeshwar.
Shopping complexes and malls are also likely targets of terrorists. Jain urged people to remain alert and cooperate with police to counter such threats.
Considering the heavy rush of piligirms in Shirdi, police have beefed up security there. The Shirdi Sansthan will soon install CCTVs and scanners and has asked for a separate traffic police branch at the pilgrimage site, Jain said.
