Truck crushes child to death

IN YET another accident on the by-pass road near Ayodhya Nagar, an 8-year-old boy was crushed to death under a truck on Sunday. Angry residents staged a road blockade and pelted stones at the erring truck.

IN YET another accident on the by-pass road near Ayodhya Nagar, an 8-year-old boy was crushed to death under a truck on Sunday. Angry residents staged a road blockade and pelted stones at the erring truck. The blockade ended after the authorities promised action and compensation to the victim’s family.

According to police sources, Jagdish, a resident of Labour Colony at Ayodhya Nagar, was going along with his entire family including wife, Saroj, son Vikas and youngest child, Rupa, on the motorcycle when the speedily driven truck MP 09/7174 hit the vehicle.

Vikas fell off the motorcycle and came under the wheels of the truck. He was killed on the spot. The rest of the family members had fallen off the vehicle and sustained minor injuries. The mishap occurred at around 2 pm.

Jagdish runs a tailoring shop at Ayodhya Nagar. Soon after the accident, the truck driver fled the spot. Seeing the death of the child and the gory scene of the spot angered residents of the area blocked the traffic on theroad.

The police arrived at the spot to calm down the tempers but there was a minor stone pelting and the truck was damaged. The truck has been seized and a case registered against the driver
