"There are countless incidents like Machil that occurred in Kashmir in which innocent civilians were killed. Till date, not a single army personnel has been held responsible or punished for the crimes committed," alleged the Mirwaiz.

The Mirwaiz, who was referring to the recent decision of the army to try six soldiers in a court martial, rejected it saying "it will not yield any justice to the victims".

Meanwhile, the Mirwaiz has demanded removal of bunkers from the civilian area. "Bunkers are becoming the main cause of innocent killings. The round-the-clock watch by the forces on civilian populations has snatched every bit of privacy the people had and turned their lives into a hell," he alleged.
