The blasts, which occurred almost simultaneously at Upper Agri Colony and Lower AG Colony, however, did not cause much damage to properties, police said.
The private residence of Leader of Opposition I Imkong is not very far from the site of explosion at Upper Agri Colony but the senior Congress leader was away from town when the blast took place.
The unexploded crude bomb was recovered from lower AG Colony, where the second explosion had taken place inside the residential complex of a Deputy Director of State Horticulture department.
The explosions caused huge craters at the site, sources said. Though the blasts did not cause any major damage to properties, the boundary wall of a residential complex at Agri Colony was partially damaged.
Police collected samples from the explosion site and experts of state bomb squad were busy examining the samples and the recovered crude bomb.
Police yet remained clueless about the motive behind the blasts and those involved.
