Two women have died of swine flu in Kerala where about 2,000 persons are seeking treatment in government hospitals for treatment of various types of viral fever.

Two women have died of swine flu in Kerala where about 2,000 persons are seeking treatment in government hospitals for treatment of various types of viral fever.

A woman each from Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram succumbed to the swine flu virus since last night and the state now had 19 confirmed cases, health department sources said on Tuesday.

While official figures said 1,172 patients had come to government hospitals for treatment of various types of viral fever, media reports said the total number of cases could be anything between 3,000 to 4,000.

Health officials confirmed 20 cases of dengue, six rat fever and one chikungunya.
