FORMER UNION Human Resource and Science and Technology minister Dr Murli Manohar Joshi came down heavily on the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government alleging it was misleading the country on Kashmir and nuclear agreement issue with United States of America.

Talking to mediapersons at his Tagore Town residence here on Friday, the former BJP president said that the Central Government was giving an indication towards forming of a joint government with Pakistan in Kashmir.
He said, this would be against the country’s constitutional spirit as Kashmir is the integral part of India. Having any joint government in Kashmir would also mean violation of the unanimous resolution passed by the Indian Parliament few years ago. He sought a clear cut clarification from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Referring to India’s agreement on nuclear programmes with US, Dr Joshi said that US views were now different as agreed upon by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his US tour.
He said, US was mounting pressure on India to take different measures on nuclear programmes. If it happened, then the Prime Minister’s statement that the reciprocal principle would be accepted by both sides was flouted by US.
He demanded the Prime Minister to clarify the government’s present stance in this regard because in that case India’s nuclear programmes would come under international monitoring while Israel, Japan, Pakistan would be free from that monitoring.
Dr Joshi lashed out at the Prime Minister and Finance Minister for adopting economic policies against the farmers and business community of rural India.
He flayed the Finance Minister for signing an agreement at the World Trade Organisation meet held in Hong Kong recently because it was going to affect the backbone of the rural economy where more than five crore persons were self-employed.
Indicating the deteriorating law and order in UP, former Union Minister said, now MLAs were not also safe in the State.
He demanded a CBI inquiry into implication of party MLA Udai Bhan Karwariya in a fake kidnapping case.
He said keeping any person for more than 24 hours without producing him before the magistrate was a case of illegal detention hence a probe should be conducted into the case.
The chief minister had no sympathy even with the MLAs who died. Mulayam Singh Yadav did not even visit the deceased MLA families like Krishnanand Rai, Ghanshyam Shukla, Raju Pal and so many who were killed, recently. Asked about the UPA government’s plan to bring an ordinance on the issue of reservation at Aligarh Muslim University, former HRD minister said that it would be against the basis of the Indian Constitution.
