V-C urged to present detail of varsity?s properties

SENIOR MEMBER of the Allahabad University Executive Council Sunit Vyas on Wednesday requested the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Rajen Harshe to present in detail the status of Allahabad University land and properties in the next meeting of the executive council.The executive council is the custodian of the university properties and the members should be apprised of the total assets of the university .

The executive council is the custodian of the university properties and the members should be apprised of the total assets of the university and the areas where some anti-social elements are out to grab the university property in connivance with some builders and university officials.

After receiving information that some university properties were being grabbed near Engineering College, Correspondence Course premises and Beli farm, Vyas wrote a letter to the vice-chancellor and requested him to apprise the council members of the present situation.

The members should know about the university properties in detail and the steps of the university administration has taken to protect the same.

Vyas suggested that the old boundary wall of the university should be replaced by iron grills on the pattern of the High Court to give more imposing look to the old buildings of Senate Hall complex and the Muir Central College including Vijayanagram Hall.

Accounts of the University Grant Commission’s special grant should also be placed before the executive council at its next meeting, he demanded.
