The deceased has been identified as Any Joseph.

She had married Arvind Thampi of Kerala around 18 months ago. Arvind, a lawyer, works for a law firm in Sector 10 here.

“The woman was taking driving lessons at a driving school in Sector 2. When her husband went there to pick her up on Saturday, he learnt that she had left in an auto-rickshaw. They had an argument at home. After that, he left for office. When he returned at night, she had committed suicide,” said a police officer.

Arvind reached home around 11 pm. “He found the flat locked from inside. When he did not get any response despite repeated knocks, he took help from neighbours. When he went inside the house, he found his wife hanging from a ceiling fan,” the officer added.

“Arguments between the two seem to have led to the suicide. We are probing the case from all possible angles,” deputy superintendent of police Radheshyam said.

After the marriage, Any had gone to Canada to pursue some course. On return she was staying with her husband.

The victim’s family members reached Noida on Sunday. The body stayed in the house for 14 hours as it could not be sent for post-mortem before the arrival of a magistrate.
