Woman DJ rocks male-dominated field

There may not be many of them, but this disc jockey (DJ) has carved a niche for herself in yet another male-dominated profession. Barkha Kaul, playing the music console at clubs in India and abroad, is now a known face in late night parties. She was here to perform at Mojo Bar on Saturday.

There may not be many of them, but this disc jockey (DJ) has carved a niche for herself in yet another male-dominated profession. Barkha Kaul, playing the music console at clubs in India and abroad, is now a known face in late night parties. She was here to perform at Mojo Bar on Saturday.

She said, “Three years ago, I thought I should do something different. I have seen very few girls on the music console. And from here my journey as a DJ started. I thought when girls are outshining boys in every other field, why not here.”

Barkha, who was born and brought up in Agra, says her parents always stood by her.
