Disappointed fans protested outside cricketer Yuvraj Singh's Manimajra home in Chandigarh on Sunday night, after the Indian team lost the T20 World Cup final to Sri Lanka in Bangladesh.
The southpaw failed to get going in the match and scored only 11 from 21 balls, drawing the ire of fans.
Neighbours said that 10-12 youths on motorcycles gathered outside the house and started raising slogans, blaming Yuvraj for the team's defeat. Nobody except the cricketer's domestic help was present at the house.
"Fearing that the situation might turn ugly, I called the police control room immediately. By the time the cops arrived, the youths had disappeared," said a neighbour.
Attacks like these are not rare in cricket crazy India. Skipper MS Dhoni had been on the recieving end of such attacks both in last October as well as 2007.
