Officer Chattar Singh, in charge of Naveen Nagar CIA unit in Faridabad was accused of picking up a youth in an IPL betting case and pressurising his brother to ‘pay a bribe for his release’. One Sudhir alias Raju, a resident of Syedwada in Old Faridabad, had been arrested by Singh. His brother Dinesh had rushed to the police station when news of Sudhir’s brother reached him. After seeing the police allegedly thrash his brother and demand bribe for his release, Dinesh had collapsed in the police station, complaining of pain in the chest. He later died of the heart attack.

Faridabad’s commissioner of police had ordered a probe into the incident and on the basis of the preliminary enquiry conducted by DCP Central Abhey Singh, Chhattar Singh was immediately placed under suspension Singh.

On the instructions of the Police Commissioner, DCP Ballabgarh Raj Kumar Vaishisht will now enquire into the whole matter.
