Indore: I-T search at residence of businessman Mohan Ludhiyani continues

Officials of Gujarat and Indore teams of the income tax department's investigation wing made inquiries, and searched for more documents and information at the residence of businessman Mohan Kumar Ludhiyani on Friday. The department officials were spotted entering and leaving his residence in Khatiwala Tank area in Indore.

Friday's inquiries were seen as part of the department's attempts to corroborate evidence of hawala transactions and a money laundering trail linking controversial godman Asaram Bapu to Ludhiyani and his business associates.

Ludhiyani, who is believed to be close to Asaram, visited his Khandwa Road ashram during the latter's stay in the city.

The search teams have confiscated a large volume of incriminating documents from Ludhiyani and his business associates. The joint team of the investigation wing's search across 11 cities in the country including Indore continued on Friday.

Meanwhile, a team of income tax department officials made inquiries and sought documents from Kulbhushan Mittal, the promoter of Gyanshila Group of Companies, at his office in Telephone Nagar. The group is into real estate business. When contacted, Mittal who is a local Congress party leader denied that it was a department search or survey. He also dismissed report of income tax evasion.
