“We have been noticing this pattern for quite some time that full-fledged rainfall arrives only after a break,” said the weather office.

As per local readings, the city is expected to receive light showers, accompanied by heavy thunderstorms in a day or two.

The day temperature was recorded at 32.4 degrees Celsius and the night temperature settled at 22.4 degrees Celsius. As per the weather department recordings, humidity was recorded at 83% making mornings unpleasant.

“High levels of humidity were recorded during early morning which dropped to 46% during the afternoon hours,” said an official.

Several health experts in the city have warned people to remain cautious of diseases.

“With humidity levels crossing 50%, chances of caching a number of diseases due to houseflies increases. People should abstain from eating out and keep themselves hydrated. Chances of contracting a stomach infection and other seasonal diseases are high as the humidity in the air provides ample breeding space to bacteria in food products,” said Dr Sanjay Dixit, head of department, community medicine, MGM medical college.
