Rajasthan Congress president Sachin Pilot said that BJP is a sinking ship in the state and no one wants to be associated with it. Describing the ruling Vasundhara Raje government as a failure, he said that in the last four and a half years, the government has defended land mafia, liquor-bajri mafia and corrupt officials.
Talking to the media, Pilot said that the Raje government has deliberately targeted farmers and Kshatriya communities during her tenure. “In her speeches, the chief minister says that people of every class are members of her family, but those members were fired and lathi-charged. Every class is troubled by the policies of the government. For the last four and a half years, the chief minister has not met the public,” said Pilot.
After losing in the Lok Sabha bypoll, she has gone to meet the public, but now the people do not want to meet her. Pilot said that despite having a BJP government at the centre and the state, Rajasthan has not got any benefit, instead, the common man has been exploited. “The CM will have to answer why 150 farmers committed suicide in the state. Why are girls being murdered and raped?” said the Congress leader.
The youth, who had earlier been confused, now stand with the Congress. He claimed that the party will win the upcoming assembly elections with full majority. In response to a question, Pilot said that the BJP’s new state president is a compromise candidate.
Asked if the BJP can give a free hand to Vasundhara Raje for the elections, Pilot said, “Give the free hand or change the candidate, now the people have no expectations from the BJP.” Terming the upcoming Assembly elections in three states, including Rajasthan as important, he said that the results of these elections will determine the country’s politics.
“The Congress is focusing on booth management for elections. More than three lakh members have been added for 49,000 polling booths in the state,” said Pilot, adding that next month Congress National President Rahul Gandhi will visit the state.
