Jaipur: Cong councillors create ruckus at JMC meeting over corruption
Congress councillors created ruckus on Wednesday at a Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) board meeting as they shouted slogans, manhandled JMC officials and misbehaved with police for resisting them.
The councillors shouted slogans and demanded investigation over alleged irregularities in the council board. They were carrying placards and banners and even sloganeered into the well of the house. The meeting was adjourned for 15 minutes.
Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson and former MLA Pratap Singh Khachariawas alleged corruption in the JMC board and demanded resignation of mayor Nirmal Nahata for allegedly involving former chairmen of the sanitation committee in corruption.
The RPCC spokesperson said BJP state president Ashok Parnami, in the pre-board meeting of BJP councillors on Tuesday had asked to support corrupt councillors and gave clean chit to former chairmen of sanitation committee. “This proves that BJP’s top leadership is also involved in corruption.
Therefore, the leaders are asking its councillors to be united so that the secret of corruption is not revealed. Congress will agitate from the new year till the BJP government takes strict action against people involved in corruption.” Khachariyawas said.
JMC deputy mayor Manoj Bhardwaj said, “Important proposals were discussed at the board meeting and Congress councillors, instead of taking part in discussion, created ruckus.” He said 10 proposals were passed at the board meeting, including door-to-door garbage collection, fixing LED bulbs at electricity poles and increasing license fee for slaughtering.
