Tonk bus accident toll reaches 18

The death toll in Tonk bus accident reached 18 on Wednesday, as two more people succumbed to burn injuries at Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur.

SMS hospital additional medical superintendent Dr Ajit Singh Shekhawat said Dev Karan (50) had succumbed to injuries on Saturday (June 13), while Jagdish Prajapat (45) and Mansa Gurjar (12) died in ICU on Tuesday. He said 15 patients have been discharged, 13 on Tuesday and two on Wednesday.

The accident took place when a bus carrying wedding party came in contact with a live electrical wire near Sanh village in Tonk district on Friday (June 12), in which 15 passengers were killed on the spot and 32 injured, who were shifted to SMS hospital in Jaipur.
Shakhtawat said 10 patients were still admitted in burn ward while the other four were in the intensive care unit. The passengers who were admitted in ICU have also suffered head injuries.

Plastic surgeon with SMS hospital Dr Rakesh Jain said passengers admitted in the hospital have suffered electric burns in their limbs and legs. Blood vessels of a few of them have been damaged completely necessitating the limbs to be amputated, he added.
