In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Dhruv Madhok, Co-Founder of Arata, suggested the following hair care tips to treat excessive hair fall during the rains:

1. Oiling is a must - Did you know that lack of oiling can result in hair fall, especially during the rainy seasons? So make sure you apply hair oil at least once a week. A hot oil massage is highly recommended as it also helps boost hair growth.

Pro tip - Before your champi sesh, make sure that your hair is detangled, otherwise, you may end up with broken hair knots and increased breakage.

2. Air dry your hair - Give your heating and hair styling tools a break and let your hair dry naturally. Avoid combing wet hair to minimize hair breakage.

Pro tip - To ensure that your hair dries quickly and feels smooth after, use a dry T-shirt to dry it properly. It also helps reduce hair damage!

3. Change your shampoo - Toss out your regular shampoos and switch to a gentle shampoo instead. Do not use more than the amount of a pea (unless you have rocking Rapunzel-approved locks) and mix it with water before directly putting it on your scalp.

Pro tip - Make sure you use a moisturizing conditioner or a hair mask post-shampoo to reduce hair damage and combat hair fall.

Adding to the list of tips to treat excessive hair fall in monsoon, Vipin Sharma, Senior Product and Research Manager at Fixderma India Pvt Ltd, recommended a few simple precautions with which one can enjoy healthy hair, infection free scalp and control hair fall. He advised:

1. Avoid chemical and heat treatments during this season and embrace nourishing treatments like spa and deep conditioning to improve the health of hair

2. Always cover and protect your hair from rain water and in case you get exposed, do wash and clean your hair of the residue immediately.

3. Always keep your hair dry. Try to air dry them as heat and aggressive blow dry can only lead to more damage and weakening of hair

4. Do not over wash your hair during this weather but never forget to pay extra attention to conditioning.
