Now, with the proposal inching forward, the cantonment board, district administration officials and the Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation officials are busy preparing a strategy for the diversion of traffic in case the work on the side of the cantonment board begins.
At present, the construction work is only going on towards the Mal Avenue side. But now, the bridge corporation wants to start work on the cantonment side. This would require diversion of traffic from the Katai wala Pul and the petrol pump crossing.
Officials of the UP Bridge Corporation claimed to have sent a modified traffic plan to the Board and were waiting for their response. However, Shobha Gupta said the traffic diversion would not be allowed from Sadar as the area is already overcrowded.
“The issue is of development and if at all there is any security concern, then it would be decided by the president of the Cantonment Board. However, public representatives would be taken into confidence before a decision is taken,” said CEO Cantonment Board Shobha Gupta.
