A day after doing a Rahul Gandhi by having lunch at a dalit’s place, Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s aide Amit Shah declared the BJP would aim to wrest all the four Lok Sabha seats of Bundelkhand region in the 2014 general elections.
On the second and final day of his Bundelkhand visit, Shah bared the party’s strategy by telling the cadre that the BJP won’t tolerate it if ‘Mahesh ka haq Mahmood ko mile’ (if Mahesh’s rights are snatched by Mahmood).
Shah, who will be in Agra on the last day of his UP tour on Monday, made the statement at a party workers’ meet in Jhansi while referring to the 20% quota for minorities in all development schemes provided by the UP government.
He also said the BJP in UP should look for galvanizing the party structure not just with 2014 but with 2017 (when UP assembly elections would be held) in mind.
“Set up or activate booth level committees. This is the key to reviving the party,” Shah told party workers amid reports that despite the insistence on booth-management, the state BJP was finding it difficult to get enough youths to man over one lakh plus booths in the state. Shah has made photos and telephone numbers of youths manning booth level committees mandatory.
He has done this to ensure that there are no bogus members. Sources say this is proving to be a tough task.
“Even in the state capital there are so many booths which are still unmanned.Despite tall talk and importing leaders, the BJP’s organizational structure in UP continues to be in shambles,” the source said.
He said the BJP was ready to take on the ruling party’s “gundai (criminal acts) bahubal (muscle power) and dhanbal (money power) through its “committed cadre.”
