While just ten months are left for the Games (October 3- 14, 2010), the state police have started beefing up the security arrangement as large number of players and delegates participating in one of the largest multi sports event would be staying in the hotels located in Noida. The bicycle race will be also organised in Noida.
While reviewing the security arrangement the officials identified Khoda, a village in Gautam Buddha Nagar, as a hurdle in the security plan. Though the village has been declared illegal, the district administration is not in a position to raze or to shift the residents to another location.
Once a non-descript village, Khoda has grown fast. According to an estimate prepared by the district administration, the population of the village is around six lakh. Talking to HT ADG (Law and Order), West, AK Jain said Khoda is a security hazard as we have no record of the people staying in this village.
"The police with the assistance of district administration have decided to launch door-to-door survey in the village. The suspicious people and illegal residents would be identified. They would be shifted from the Noida area", Jain said.
In view of the Commonwealth Games, the state government has prepared a separate security plan for three districts including Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad and Baghpat. The sleuths of Anti Terrorist Squad and Special task Force would be deployed in these districts. CCTV would be installed on the route and commandoes would be deployed at sensitive points.
The state government has decided to complete all the security arrangement before the start of the Commonwealth Game, Jain said and added Chief Minister Mayawati had already sanctioned 40 patrol cars for Noida and Greater Noida area..
The DGP, Karamvir Singh has also ordered for the deployment of around 400 extra constables in the Noida. Along with patrolling these constables would regulate the traffic during the Games.
