Technically, the film Thodi Life Thoda Magic is just about okay, but the script twists and turns are very predictable, notes Khalid Mohamed.

He’s a wear-a-jhola-eat-a-bhatura-chhola sort of a street guy. He plays cricket with the kids, is discovered by a TV writer and turns into a messiah. But if you’re thinking Meet John Doe, ignore that right away. Also Network. Hollywood, Bollywood, Tellywood.. what’s the difference?
The script twists and turns are as predictable as potholes in June. Much heavy weather is made about the TRP-topping show of Jhola Doe (Jackie Shroff, not bad at all) being manipulated. The writer (Meera Vasudevan) weeps inconsolably, her buddy (Sahil Chadha) looks uber glum, TV exec (Anita Raj) looks as if she didn’t know what the fuss is all about, anyway. And Arbaaz Khan is around as a nasty TV potentate.. but eventually is about as threatening as a new-born parakeet.
Although well-intentioned, this Thoda.. can’t quite articulate its concerns. Where’s the dramatic conflict? Technically just about okay, the outcome is as pointless as an umbrella without a handle.
