26-year-old killed in Thane hit-and-run, dumper driver arrested
The accused lost control of his vehicle and hit the deceased from behind near Kharegoan toll naka in Thane
The Kalwa police recently arrested a 27-year-old dumper driver for mowing down a biker in Thane.

The accused has been identified as Buddhrudin Shaikh.
According to police, the deceased Pratik Pathaniya, 26, is a resident of Ulhasnagar and works in Thane. The incident took place when he was on his way back home on his two-wheeler. The accused lost control of his vehicle and hit Pathaniya from behind near Kharegoan toll naka in Thane.
A police officer from Kalwa police station said, “Soon after the incident, the accused tried to escape from the spot. However, the locals caught hold of him and alerted us.”
A case of rash and negligent driving under the Motor Vehicle Act has been registered. Pathaniya, police said, suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
“Pathaniya’s body was handed over to his family after the post mortem,” the police officer said. The dumper, police said, was seized.
