Kritika Chaudhary murder: Model’s brother says she could not have been killed for ₹6,000
Mumbai city news: Kritika’s family said they wanted the two accused to be sentenced to death.
Kritika Chaudhary’s younger brother Deepak said he did not believe that his sister was murdered for a paltry Rs6,000.
“She had enough money to pay off the peddlers if at all they were demanding money from her,” Deepak told HT over phone from his Haridwar residence. “I do not doubt that they killed her but I cannot fathom the theory that she was killed for just Rs6,000 because she had at least Rs22,000 with her at the time of her murder.”
Kritika’s family said they wanted the two accused to be sentenced to death.
Deepak added, “When we came to Mumbai after the news of her death reached us, the investigating officials gave me her purse which had Rs22,000. If she had that much money, why didn’t she give it to them and save her life? If they were visiting her frequently and threatening her about the money, why would she not give them the amount?”
Deepak also said that he suspected there was more to his sister’s murder than what the police divulged.
“The accused took away all her gold ornaments worth over Rs2 lakh. Where was the need to kill her? She had lent Rs50,000 to a female friend, which she never demanded back. Why would such a person borrow money from a drug peddler? I think the police are hiding something,” he said.
