A 25-year-old man was booked for allegedly creating five fake accounts on social media and posting intimate photos of his ex-girlfriend. A case was registered at Sakinaka police station on March 7 and the accused was booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and IT Act.

Police said the 24-year-old complainant and the accused met in August 2018 while working in the same firm. They later got into a relationship. The woman quit her job after their colleagues learnt of their relationship.

After she started working for another firm, it got difficult for the couple to keep in touch. The accused would often show up at her new workplace, which ultimately led to a heated argument, the complainant said. After she ended the relationship, the accused threatened to leak photos they had taken when they were together.

On February 20 and 22, the accused posted her photos online. He then sent a friend request to the complainant’s brother. On seeing the photos, the complainant’s brother alerted her, following which she approached the Sakinaka police.

“The accused was not at home when we went to arrest him. We are trying to trace him,” said an officer from Sakinaka police station.
